Healthy Eating on a Budget Programme Assistant

How/why did you get involved in FEAST?

My passion for enhancing people’s health and wellbeing, combined with my love for food and cooking, naturally led me to a career in nutrition. As a Public Health Nutritionist, I have enjoyed helping individuals in both group and one-on-one settings discover the joy of cooking and understand the nutritional value of food. I have supported people in overcoming barriers that may have prevented them from maintaining a balanced, healthy diet. With a strong interest and background in food security and sustainability, I was immediately drawn to FEAST and the Healthy Eating on a Budget programme assistant role. I am eager to continue empowering individuals and communities to achieve food security and optimal health.

Anything FEAST is doing that you are particularly passionate about?

In addition to helping people develop nutritional knowledge and understanding, I cherish the opportunities created by the Healthy Eating on a Budget programme. It allows staff members, volunteers, and participants to learn from one another and foster a sense of community. This sense of community is also evident in other initiatives by FEAST, such as the community meals. I also find the research on nutrition and diet of people experiencing homelessness crucial, as it enables us at FEAST, and the wider community, to provide better services and care by understanding the needs of this marginalised group.

Hobbies and interests outside of work?

Cooking and trying new foods is definitely on the top of my list! I also love music (a lot!), discovering it and going to live gigs. Travelling (especially off the beaten path) and camping in nature is another big interest of mine, as well as dancing, reading and swimming.
